2011, "The Interactive Facade". An interactive facade optimized for daylighting and pedestrian response
As part of an ongoing research on the use of the Genetic Algorithms in the built environment, this project investigates on the potential of their application in an interactive façade design with a multi-objective optimization.
The objective was to develop an adaptive building façade to provide the optimum light conditions in the interior and to perform as interactive device for the exterior reacting to weather conditions and pedestrian activity. The façade act as a sort of medium to play and communicate with outside while maintain the privacy for the activities inside the building.<..more..>

2011, "Hands on Ofelia's Beach". @ SmartGeometry 2011 Copenhagen (DK). With Raul Kalvo, Jakob Bak, Tore Banke
The project explores the interaction with the digital model through the use of tangible objects to experiment form and shape. The architects and designers can use a physical building blocks, made of foam or paper, to explore the effect of the design on the site in regard to the sun and wind conditions. Interactively the designer can try to find the best configuration of the blocks that can perform the best local wind conditions and the best exposure to solar radiation.

2011, Competition: "Sinewave Bridge" (NY, USA) DesignByMany - Building to building pedestrian bridge. With Fausta Ledda
The Sinewave Bridge was inspired by the pop-up sculpures by Peter Dahmen. The Sinewave Bridge connect two buildings in the financial district of Manhattan (New York, USA). The use of advanced parametric tools allows to define in detail the changes with respect to the data received and the context to obtain a continuous controlled variation of form. The geometry of the bridge emphasizes verticality and slenderness of the bridge, while the steel and glass emphasize the lightness of form. <..more..>

La soluzione frequentemente adottata per proteggere gli edifici dal pericolo di inondazione è evitare che l'acqua entri a contatto con l'edificio, portando i piani inferiori più a rischio, ad una quota di sicurezza in funzione dei livelli di piena. Nel progetto si inverte questa tendenza rispondendo in modo attivo alla minaccia: l’edificio non si separa dal terreno e non si sottrae dal contatto diretto con l'acqua, ma diventa esso stesso barriera, interagendo con l'ambiente. L’obiettivo è perciò quello di realizzare un’architettura capace di modificarsi e rispondere attivamente alle condizioni ambientali esterne
